While I was doing my usual routine during the weekend, I switched on the TV news to know something about what going on around the metropolis or around the country.
The TV popped up the news about the ZTE broadband scandal which the now-pegged as a modern day hero, Jun Lozada Jr. was honored through a concelebrated mass headed by a Jesuit Priest Fr. Manoling Francisco in the La Salle Greenhills Chapel.
As usual, it is well-attended by the known Philippine personalities and politicians whom I believed were part of the Edsa 1 and 2 that happened years back. And now, it seems that they wanted to stage another Edsa revolution. They toppled the government some years ago and put Gloria Macapagal as the president of the country but now, they wanted her to step down. What?! Where are we going? Quo Vadis?
Honestly, while I am writing this blog, I really feel bad about what going on in our country. The corruption and politicking has gone berserk to its utmost level. What we have now are bananas in pajamas governing us Filipinos while we are living below poverty line.
Some years ago, when the Edsa 2 was about to happen, A good friend of mine in UP called up to join our group and be part of the history but I declined. Truly, that was one of the best decisions I made that time.
Because…
I still believe in the rule of law in this country. Let all the angsts, skirmishes and complaints against the present government be put into the proper forum.
Let the rule of law prevail.
Of course, you would always say that the law is being controlled by the present administration, etc, etc… Oh well, that goes back to square one on how we voted for the leaders of the land during elections and how we, the Filipino, took part in the elections process.
Were we vigilant enough to watch our sacred votes? Were we? Or we just let those crooks paid us for our votes in order to have a “one day survival kit” living our miserable lives?
It is a choice we made that making us suffer now.
As an ordinary citizen, I could only take part in improving our country by doing diligently my work and pay my taxes dutifully. Now, wherever my taxes will go, I will just let the elected leaders mind it because that is their job in the first place when we elected them thinking that those killer taxes will create better opportunities for other people and elevate our ways of living. It is my way of improving our economy.
Now the question is, how about the present ramblings inside the Senate right now? Am I not going to take part? Same decision I made before, I will not. I will not take part in toppling the government by their means not because I don’t believe in their cause but because I believe in the rule of law to punish those who need to be punished.
While I am about to go back to my blogging spree, I think that it is all our fault. We are the Filipino people who are at fault because we let them sit on the throne without much thinking.
Hmm… I better post this one in my seocontest2008 blog because it might interest people to read it.
